This criteria enables you to secure a one-year renewable resident visa for your parents or parents-in-law.
Under the new regulations, sponsoring both parents together is mandatory. You must also demonstrate that you are their sole provider and that there’s no one else to care for them in your home country.
If your parents are divorced or if one of them is deceased, presenting documentary proof is necessary when visiting the Department of Naturalisation and Residency Dubai (DNRD) to obtain the entry permit visa. This serves as the initial step before applying for a residency permit.
How to Apply for a Parents Visa in the UAE
Documentation and Procedure
Residence visas for parents in Dubai can be sponsored by either an expatriate or an employer. After acquiring a residence visa, you must apply for a parents visa within 60 days. If this process seems daunting, allow Docman to provide reliable and cost-effective assistance.

Step-by-step Procedure:
- Visit the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) with the aforementioned documents.
- Submit them along with a letter requesting an entry visa for your parent/s, including your contact number.
- Pay the required fees and have the registered typist complete the process.
- You will receive an entry permit within 48 hours by post, or instantly if you opt for an urgent visa.
- Once your parents receive the entry permit, they can enter the country. Ideally, you will obtain the residence visa for your parents within 60 days from their date of entry.

- Original entry permit of your parent
- Three passport-sized photographs of your parents
- Photocopy of your passport
- Copy of your employment contract and salary certificate
- Medical test certificate
Step-by-step Procedure:
- Complete the visa renewal application form.
- Submit all required documents to the nearest branch of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
- Pay the fees (AED 100 for a year of residency visa).
- Processing typically takes 24 hours, after which you await further instructions.
Additional Information:
Upon expiry, you have 30 days to renew the parent visa in Dubai. Failure to renew incurs fines: AED 25 per day for the first six months, AED 50 per day thereafter.
